In order to ensure high quality interconnection and interoperability among Bluetooth devices worldwide, the SIG Board of Director, in December 19, 2017, will phase out and disuse the core Bluetooth specifications of the following versions.

So what about this BluetoothSIG?

Bluetooth Special Interest Group, a trade association, is a leading manufacturer of telecommunications, computer, automotive, industrial automation and network industries. The team is committed to promoting the development of Bluetooth wireless technology, developing low-cost wireless specifications for short-range mobile devices and bringing them to market.

The Bluetooth technology alliance is also a multinational organization with the purpose of developing Bluetooth specification and promoting Bluetooth technology. It has a Bluetooth logo that is responsible for certifying manufacturers and authorizing them to use Bluetooth technology and Bluetooth logo, but it is not responsible for the design, production and sale of Bluetooth devices.

1. The Bluetooth SIG Board officially approved the Bluetooth Core Standard Abandonment and Revocation Plan on December 19, 2007. The main contents are as follows:

Since July 1, 2018, the withdrawn standard 2.0/2.0+EDR has been officially cancelled.

Since July 1, 2018, the core standard version of Bluetooth (deprecation) has been abandoned (4.0/3.0/2.1/2.1+EDR).

Since January 1, 2020, the withdrawn standard 4.0/3.0/2.1/2.1+EDR has been officially cancelled.

Since January 1, 2019, the core standard version of Bluetooth (deprecation) has been abandoned (4.1).

From July 1, 2020, formally withdraw (withdrawn) Bluetooth core standard version 4.1.

Two, BluetoothSIG also amended the certification policy for the abandoning and revocation standards. There were significant changes in the previous policy. The following new policies began to be implemented since July 1, 2018.

Cancel the policy of allowing USD25000 to purchase Declaration ID for new design based on the abandoning of Bluetooth standard.

When the Bluetooth standard is abandoned, the corresponding standard will no longer be maintained (the standard Corrigendum and the test standard Corrigendum of the corresponding version no longer be processed), and the new product design is not allowed to complete the Bluetooth qualification authentication based on the abandoned version. Only reference column names based on discarded versions are allowed to be created and qualified using the original conforming design without any modification.

The corresponding core standards will no longer be maintained after Bluetooth standard revocation (no longer handling the standard Corrigendum and test standard Corrigendum of the corresponding version), the revocation version is not allowed to create a reference name or any qualification authentication, and the revocable version of the name is not allowed (no argument is the reference name or qualification certificate). Add a new product model.

Three. The straightforward interpretation of the above policy is as follows:

Since July 1, 2018, the new version of the Bluetooth product qualification certification must be 4.1 or 4.2 or 5.

Since January 1, 2019, the new version of the Bluetooth product qualification certification must be 4.2 or 5.

In January 1, 2020, no new product models can be added to the column names which have been completed by 4 and previous versions.

In July 1, 2020, no new product models can be added to the column names which have been completed by 4.1 and previous versions.
